And what is it with the number 40 showing up in everything? I've never done the research and I'm too lazy to do so. I'm guessing it has a religious meaning since lint is 40 days, 40 days and 40 nights with Noah, etc. |
I remember when I was taking my Old Testament class they said it was just something they used for a number too large to count out. Like today if someone were to say that Noah was on the ark for like, a million days everyone would know it wasn't *exactly* a million. (Not sure if I'm making sense, oh well...)
When exactly *did* Howard Ashman die? Was it before or after black friday?
The original was set in China, but I remember hearing it was a Persian story. I guess the reason the sorcerer was African and Aladdin was Chinese was to make it more impressive when the genie transports them to the other side of the world? |

If you know the date of Black Friday, he died on March 14, 1991. I think he was dead by then, because Jeffery was there and Howard wasn't there in any pictures or videos. Alan started talking about how hard it was to take the mother out of the story (along with the song) and that happened soon after Jeffery saw the early version was shot with the story boards. I know that Howard died eight months before Beauty and the Beast came out, which meant most of the animators were still on the set of that. And since the movie was shot on story boards, it would make sense for it to be around summer of 1991 when Black Friday occured. That's my estimate anyway. _________________ "You're already writing the music into the songs and the music out of the songs and writing the music within the songs for dialogue and little bits of music for scenes. No... It was Howard Ashman. He died of AIDS that March before Beauty and the Beast came out. He was the person he wrote the lyrics for Alan's music. The song was almost written to Howard's own mother, because in a way he felt like the original Aladdin did, that he had messed up and wanted to make his mother proud. The song meant something to Howard, and that's why after Howard died, it was so hard for Alan to let it go. I can only imagine having to do it myself... *sniffles*
Big Alan/Howard fan talking... hee hee |
Yes! That guy! Okay, now I'm going to be small in a corner somewhere. |

Wow, *right* before Black Friday (March 29, 1991). I need to make a timeline; I can't keep all this stuff straight. |

No, definitely not... I can't imagine what everyone on the set was having to go through... _________________ "You're already writing the music into the songs and the music out of the songs and writing the music within the songs for dialogue and little bits of music for scenes. What did you think of that version of Aladdin Calluna? In this story it was infinity of wishes by the Genie of the ring. So how did they got to infinity of wish fullfillment to just three. And the ring to the lamp? Even before the Disney movie of Aladdin came out. It was the three wish deal....
In another subject, I haven't been in this messageboard that long but What was Black Friday all about ? |

The movie was shot off the storyboards to Jeffery Kratzenburg on Thursday. (Eric Goldburgrefers to it as "holy thursday") That day, he said they the whole movie was to be started completely over, and change things, including getting rid of unlimited wishes, Genie/Ring, mother, three friends, Aladdin became older. _________________ "You're already writing the music into the songs and the music out of the songs and writing the music within the songs for dialogue and little bits of music for scenes. They say that Aladdin's lazy in the 1001 Arabian Nights Tale. He daydreams and loligags in the fields. He always get in trouble. ( You'll only get into trouble if you get caught.) Aren't we glad that Aladdin is physically fit and the hotness that he is? If he loligags and does nothing then wouldn't he be pudgy ? His mom did most of the talking between him and the Sultan. The princess had a funky name Bedu budiddur something like that.. But it sure sounded funny. The 1001 said that Aladdin spotted her while she was taking a bath. She supposedly wasn't to be seen. But Aladdin fell in love with her. |
it's princess Budir al-Budoor. i named my favorite fish after her... _________________ I loveses my Ger-bear! (me and Ger-bear>>)
