Anyone notice how, in the Aladdin series, the writers found "someone" for everybody except for Abu and Carpet? And how the villains never fall in love? Why can't villains experience romance, too? I mean, they wouldn't have to become girl scouts, or anything, but they don't need to be isolated, either.
We do know that Mirage was once in a relationship. (And I've heard multiple speculations on her past, and how she became an incarnate.)
Today, this random picture of Chaos falling in love flashed in my head. I actually think that would be funny, because nobody would expect it. Were there an episode on it, it would be, well, chaos. But I don't any fanfic about such a thing would be good enough to please the Lord of Mischief. (Hey, what other nickname would you give him?)
Anyway, what are your thoughts? On badguy romances in general?

Well, if you consider Queen Hippsodeth and Scara villains, they did fall in love, and Carpet is gonna have a hard time finding someone who isn't a beach towel or that fake one Abis Mal came up with
I have no problems with villains in relationships; I encourage it. They need love, too! Maybe they won't be so grumpy if they had someone to love . |

This seemed an appropriate time to show you that again. |

I have nothing against villain romances, but I have a problem with that many of these fics redeem them through true love. There's this fanfic called "Love's a Bug" by Mica West in which Mechanikles falls in love with Jasmine's cousin Myranah. I think it's a really cute story (the interaction between Mechy and Myranah is funny) but in the end they get married (after knowing each other for one day ) and Mechanikles turns good, just like that.
On the other hand, there's this Mozenrath fic in which he gets married, but the woman is evil too. I really liked the lack of the redemption factor. _________________ "Now nothing will stand in the way of DOING THE DISHES!" |

Now see, I have a problem with both scenarios.
Like I said, falling in love doesn't turn you into a girl scout. I think Mozenrath, Mechanicles, or whomever would be reluctant to change their evil ways. Those things don't happen just because the person's fallen in love.
On the other hand, I loathe the football player/cheerleader romances. That is to say, I hate how people think that everybody is going to end up with someone just like them. It doesn't work like that. Did Aladdin marry a fellow street rat? No. He married a princess, and that's part of what made their relationship so strong. They came from two separate worlds, yet they were able to triumph over adversity. If the first and second party of a couple are so damned alike that everybody expects them to get together, who cares? I prefer the "beat all odds" types of relationships. The "Dispite their differences, and the world in which they live, they made it through." Or, if failing that, the couples who are in the process of fighting those battles.

That's a good point. Neither of the extremes is good, but I find it easier to accept villains being attracted to someone exactly like them instead of the other extreme.
I'm not a huge fan of "from different worlds, beating all odds" type of romances, though. I don't know why they tend to irritate me, but sometimes I just want a more simple love story. There can be other obstacles that are just as interesting. Also, that kind of romance has been done to death and only talented writers can add something that we haven't seen thousand times before. _________________ "Now nothing will stand in the way of DOING THE DISHES!" |

There've been hints to villains falling in love in aladdin and disney in general. But the POV is mainly the main characters.
1. Remember Mirage and the blind guy whose name I never remember?
2. Scar and Zira. Well, I'm not sure Scar loved her. Zira was a crazy stalker fangirl.
3. I am not a shipper myself, but Sadira and Mozenrath had some potential if the series had continued. Never mind. I take that back.
4. Those circus villains aladdin and abu were once part of. That girl (Fatima?) thought her guy couldn't love her the way she was. She was wrong of course, and they did love each other.
I guess the villains don't fall in love because they either
1. have loved before and are jaded
2. are too busy trying to foil other people's love and happiness
3. will be a miserable, dysfunctional, dangerous couple if they ever hook up
4. this sounds really cheesy, but they either do not love themselves enough or love themselves above all others.
Or maybe they do fall in and out of love, but behind the scenes. they dont show it because it would be gross to watch (like those villains in Kim Possible) ![Laughing](images/smiles/icon_lol.gif) |

Well, there are certain characters I don't feel sorry for because they really don't seem to care about finding love. Abu is one character like that, so is Mozenrath, and Mechanikles, etc...
Plus the series takes place over, what, three years? What are the chances of every character meeting their true love within that time?

Gah, that's the pairing I would have made a rant thread about if it were me. Don't get me started on Mozenrath/Sadira. ![Laughing](images/smiles/icon_lol.gif) _________________ "If only I could believe you. Perhaps I can! After all... you do bear the name of a flower." -- Arbutus |

I made a Jafar and Maleficent spoof-off-the-kiss-in-the-original-movie picture, but the dragon/snake idea is interesting....![Laughing](images/smiles/icon_lol.gif) |

Yeah, I've seen that one.
You know, another spoof-kiss from the ending of KOT with them two would be hilarious. ![Laughing](images/smiles/icon_lol.gif) _________________ You know you want to Legendary Genie Embrace me... |
