I was doing a little research about a certain episode when I stumbled upon a foreign cast list (I have no idea what language it was, but my guess is Dutch). Turns out that in this language Uncouthma is called Grobertus and Runtar is Kortsmoi.
Do you know any other alternate names for some character? I'm not talking about alternate spellings (like Iago/Jago) but names that have little to nothing to do with the original.

We've got a few of them in German. Let's see...
Mozenrath - Mogelrath
Abis Mal - El Fatal
Mirage - Morgana
Thundra - Donna
Hipposdeth - Walpurga
El Fatal, Donna and Morgana make sense, since they're kind of a translation of the English names.

'Mirage' and 'Morgana' have meanings completely different from each other. I tend to think that 'Morgana' would have come from Fata Morgana, the Italian translation of Morgan le Fay.
Donna makes sense, though, as donner is the German word for thunder.

Isn't a mirage the illusion in the desert? We call that Fata Morgana.

A mirage is an illusion caused by rising heat waves, yes.
You call these things 'fata morgana'? Weird.  Seems odd that 'Morgan the Fairy" could become applied to such things... but yet, it makes sense in a weird way.

I like to think that I still know more German than you. 
Well, she was supposedly a sorceress, so illusions don't seem so far fetched in relation to her. I saw a documentory about her and mirages along time ago, wish I could remember what they said...

Yeeeah, for a moment there, I forgot you're German.
And being as how I've never done any formal studying of any language, it's not hard to know more than I do about a particular language.

I think that's Merkal's list, right? If so then it's Dutch.

That's freaky to see my favourite characters with different names. I know I hated it when they changed the names for Sailormoon and Card Captor Sakura to show them in the U.S. But if the name change is due to the translation of the original name, I can accept that.

Well, a lot of the series names are puns so they wouldn't make any sense in another language.

 That one just seems so random when you read it thinking English. So is "Donn" or something to that effect "thunder"?
And why do I feel like I've heard the name "Morgana" before? Did you use it one time?

The thing about Thundra that always bugged me is that there's no "th" sound in Spanish and the "u" sounds like "oo", not "uh". So her name should be inpronouncable to her; she should call herself Toondra. At least she calls him "Iaho" instead of "Iago" most of the time.
