Mine neither fat, nor THAT skinny.
I just get made fun of my wide hips and big butt... thick lips, and big, googly eyes. . . |

I'm forever trying to convince people that I'm not anorexic. It made me feel really self-conscious that my family and friends were always putting me down because of my weight. Yes, I know I'm a flippin pole, but you don't have to rub that in my face. It doesn't help that people are always encouraging others to put down skinny people on tv. There is a difference between promoting different body types and showing different types of girls on tv and openly putting down skinny people whilst encouraging others to do so as well. I agree that different body types should be promoted, but to make fun of one kid just so another can feel better is hypocritical.
I've tried unsuccessfully to gain weight, but now I'll just be happy the way God made me, because there's nothing I can do about it.
It's partly the reason why Jasmine is my favorite princess. She has my body type (minus the boobs because I have none) She makes me feel a little more confident about myself because although she is skinny someone like Aladdin finds her attractive because of her personality. All the disney girls have different body types, beliefs, and personalities whether or not anyone is intelligent enough to notice or admit it. Girls usually favor the one that they can relate to. |

I'd say your twig-like body is probably passed down from your Irish heritage. It seems to be fairly commonplace amongst the type. |

No, Jasmine never gave me a distorted body image, nor did she ruin my teenage years.
My problem, as a teenager wasn't feeling overweight. My problem was trying to convince certain people that I wasn't annerexic. I've always been a twig, and too many people have associated that with not eating enough. They're stupid, because I eat like a fricken horse.
If any show/characters "ruined me" so to speak, it would be Saved by the Bell. I, for the most part, thought the Disney Princesses have been decent role models, especially Jasmine.
People need to stop whining about "So and so gives a bad image to girls." Do they mean to imply that just because someone happens to have a certain body type, they shouldn't be viewed in the public eye? That's bullshit. Everybody's bodies develop differently. Some are skinny, some have alittle more meat on their bones, and many have bigger boobs than me, which sucks, but whatever. I happened to have the flat-chested gene passed down from my mother. But do you see me going out and getting breast implants? No. Because people who actually exist have helped me to see how unnecessary that is. (And knowing someone who had them helped, too.)
Also, I should point out that I don't think the media is solely responsible for a girl's distorted body image. Nor is prior generations. Sometimes, our families say things, though intended as light teasing, that give us that subconsious belief that there's something wrong with us.

This new generation needs to GET REAL!
Disney's Jasmine was an inspirtation for me since I was a little girl. She was an inspiration to a lot of us 90s babies. She taught me not to let anyone walk all over me and to be a good person. That's important to me because I used to be an introverted brat before I followed her example. She also taught me that it's okay to not be perfect all the time. She does get into mad moods and make mistakes in the Aladdin series. But she always apologizes and learns from her mistakes. That's also important to me because when I was younger, I was a people-pleaser and felt if I made mistakes or got into a bad mood, people would be upset with me.
It makes me angry that just because someone is considered beautiful, it automatically means they are bad people. It's a double standard. People are always saying it only matters what a person is like on the inside, "Unless you look the way I want to look like...then it matters, and it's okay to hate you."
If she were real (and shes not) it would not be her fault what she looked like. She was born the way God made her. And she's in the desert for crying out loud. It's hot, so she wears less clothes.
It doesn't even matter to people that Aladdin is barely clothed himself, or that Genie doesn't even have a shirt on. It only matters what Jasmine is wearing, because she's a girl.
If a little girl looked at someone else and became insecure, or if she feels the need to wear whatever brand someone else wears that is a personal problem that she and her parents need to fix. It's not the stranger's fault she is insecure with herself.

Don't worry, Oprah didn't actually say it, just someone who wrote an article in her magazine. |

I'm kind of upset, becuse if it really was OPRAH, that said it, she has totally disappointed me! unless she has isses with her own weight or whatever, cause i looked up to her, so guys first check who it was that said it!
and also, the princess have great bodies, Jasimne is an hourglass shape, which represents her curves and tiny waist (hence being trapped in an hourgalss!)
SO whoever said needs to really think, perhaps THEY are the ones with self esteem issues and are blaming it on their child hood movies! |

My parents would both kill me. But like AG said, it's for justice, so that makes it all worthwhile. |

The cops would probably be called in. All of us would be sent to jail, and on the way we'd be chanting. "JUSTICE FOR JASMINE!!!" |
