I am wondering if the filmmakers of Aladdin drew influence from the video game Prince of Persia. I mean think about it: The antagonist is a grand vizier named Jaffar (only difference is Aladdin’s Jafar is spelled with one F and not two), it takes place in an arabian world, the protagonist is an outsider who wins the heart of a princess, the vizier wants the protagonist condemned to death so the princess can be his. Sure, it might just be a coincidence, but think about it for a moment. Plus I didn’t discover Prince of Persia’s existence until 1996, and it reminded me of Aladdin right off the bat.
