Oh! I forgot "A Goofy Movie" had a sequel! That one was good too though I prefer the first one. By the way, whatever happened to that girl in the first movie? Roxanne or something...

Bah. Appeal to Pity is not a valid argument.
A fanfiction author can put her sweat and blood into the most terrible of fanfictions, but at the end of the day it doesn't suck any less.
It's obvious that
someone
didn't care about the movies that much; otherwise they would have had some quality control on the team to prevent such crap from happening in the first place.
And of
course
it's not the animator's fault. They just animate what they're given; they have nothing to do with the story.

For me, 101 Dalmations: Patch's London Adventure (I actually sympathize with poor Lil' Lightning - plus, he was really a cute little guy), Bambi II, the Aladdin sequels, Toy Story 2, Rescuers Down Under, and An Extremely Goofy Movie are the best sequels.
I either hate everything else (the TLK sequels) or have no interest in seeing them (The Fox & The Hound 2, Dead Man's Chest). Altho I like the walrus and penguin duo in The Little Mermaid 2... *shifty eyes*

I really think KoT is the best on my list, but... y-yeah I'm sure everyone's mentioned that one
Others would be Lady and the Tramp 2: Scamps Adventure (Was that the title? Heck, I forget!), when I was little I loved that sequel and so did my mom. But as Blackat said an Extremely Goofy Movie was nice too! I wasn't even fond of sports or the X Games but I loved the movie in general.

My response is earlier in the thread, but TLK 1 1/2 is one of them. It just works. And I agree with your comment about the animation. It's not as good as the theatrical versions, but they're still pretty high quality work. I just found, too often, the stories to be a little lacking (more along the lines of "why?"). But it's nice when a good sequel does come along.
Oh, could you provide a link to her gallery? I did a quick search but didn't find her.
Here you go and it was actually

I'll go with KOT for the fact that they actually tried to make a sequel that didn't look too much like an extended version of the cartoon series and an engaging story. Next up, "Lion King 1 1/2" for the comedy aspect and the improved animation from the sequels.
I know this artist from deviantART named mini-na. She was a Disney animator from its Australian division. She had done her share of animating the sequels and she had even stood her ground against the sequel-bashers, citing its not her or the other animators' fault if you don't like the movies and that they try to put as much effort into their work as Glen Keane and the others do into the theatrical releases.
Her post-Disney career includes illustrating for Tokyopop's Original English Language mangas.

I'd have to say for overall it'd be: King of Thieves. After that Lion King 2 and the Rescuers Down Under. The first time saw it though I didn't even know that Down Under was a sequel since it seemed like a whole different movie when I first watched it. All the rest though I didn't like much especially HoND 2 they wrecked the animation I tell you! It looked like some Saturday morning cartoon instead of a movie.

I have seen it plenty of times. You get sick of it when your little brother seems to watch it every day.

For the longest time I didn't see the first movie either! But I urge you to see it - it's got some really good musical moments (it's a musical Disney film rather than just a straight comedy), and some of the animation is amazing! The plot is also alot more developed and alot more sad.
But I agree, Goofy + College = gold! I love it when he bursts into Max's class in full 70's garb, it's just so over-the-top and hilarious!

As far as any Disney sequels go, I think an Extremely Goofy Movie was pretty good! Not only was the animation quality BETTER than the first movie (although the creative use of camera angles and whatever was out the window), but they managed to make a completely believable follow up story without any musical songs! I mean it's definately not better than A Goofy Movie, but it's up there in the ranks of good sequels!

The Aladdin sequels with KoT on top. Other nice sequels are Peter Pan 2 begin and end everything in between was so-so. I also like Tarzan 2 and Bambi 2. Best score and songs, I don't have a best sequel in that department.

Easily KoT, but I suppose ya'll expected that from me.
My other contenders are the Lilo and Stitch sequels (Leroy and Stitch, Stitch Has a Glitch, and Stitch: The Movie, in that order), and Lion King 1.5.
In terms of music, I think RoJ takes the top. Every song is awesome. KoT is close to that, but there's a few songs that I'm not crazy about. Have to also mention Stitch Has a Glitch here, because the return to Elvis music was fantastic.

The overall best Disney sequel that I've seen, IMO, is
King of Thieves
. The art and animation were great, they brought back some SHADING to the cells, and the songs didn't totally suck, either.
Just for the songs,
Return of Jafar
did the best, IMO. The only real gripe I had was with the song "Forget About Love". The song is about
love
- the real stuff - and then they throw in a line about completely superficial stuff. ("A cozy rendevous/Candlelight for two".) It had NOTHING to do with the rest of the song. Followed closely by
King of Thieves
and
Simba's Pride
. (The songs in
Return to the Sea
were horrible!)
For animation maintainance, Mulan 2 gets the gold. They finally stopped treating sequels as complete low-budget DTV wallet-lining bait and actually gave the art the respect it deserved.
For keeping the characters in-character,
Toy Story II
wins. Cripes, they did a better job than
Dead Man's Chest
!
Speaking of
Dead Man's Chest
, they win the official award for Biggest Letdown. Somebody should have warned Verbinski that imitating old movies - especially ones like
Star Wars
-- was a
baaaaad
idea. (Was I the only one who noticed the similarity to
Star Wars
?)
Best Plot goes to
King of Thieves
. They managed to use the Dad Plot without making Cassim into some kind of Reluctant Darth Vader (Bootstrap Bill, that means you).
It's been years since I've seen
Down Under
- if that was what I was watching, I don't remember - and I've never seen
Bambi II, Hunchback of Notre Dame II, Stitch has a Glitch, Cinderella II
or
Brother Bear II
.
