I understand where your coming from, but with Harry Potter,Harry isn't the only established wizard in the movie world, so seeing wizards in other places doesn't seem like a rip. But with Aladdin, as I said before, when you hear the word genie, a lot of ppl think of Aladdin's genie, whereas with HP I can think of multiple wizards and not just him.
I don't think our fandom is one to talk on that subject.

I... uh, go for a version of djinnis I adapted to my own warped ends. They're quite different from the Western notion; in some ways they're a lot more similar to 'traditional' djinnis.

You know, I never saw it as a rip-off, or related it to "our movie" (Like AG says. XD) in anyway.
I just never liked Bratz dolls, and the commercials get on my nerves. Why doesn't anyone follow the stories of real djinnies? Stupid Western version...

They're more like a cross between Barbara Eden's Jeannie and the harem girls in our movie

So, are there pictures of these dolls somewhere or what? Do they wear the same colors as Genie or something and that's why you say it's a ripoff?

I for one cant' stand the bratz genie magic dolls. the blonde in particular, not sure why...i don't mind the one with the darkest hair, maybe coz it reminds me of a made up character i created for a story, only she doesn't have ridiculously large lips and a pole like body!

THese ones look cute. They're clothes are really pretty. Plus, this is the firt time that I've seen them actually covered up instead of wearing some fishnet stockings

-pulls out an xray and places it in front of AG, points to this random blob floating around in her shaped like Aladdin-
And it's right there.

I hate Bratz, but I have been soooo tempted to by these just for the genie factor. I refuse, though. I have diginity...somewhere

Well, I guess it depends on what you're into. For me, Aladdin was my first experience with genies, so when I hear that word, I automatcally think of Disney's version. Am I the only one who feels this way?
Quite possibly. Trying to say Bratz ripped off Disney because Disney made a movie that involved a genie is like trying to say Harry Potter ripped off the story of King Arthur because it involved a wizard.
