I got to thinking about the concept of magic addictions after having watched a Mozenrath episode. I mean, when they take his gauntlet away, he acts as if he needs it to survive. Not to mention the fact that he collects magic. The way he demanded his gauntlet in Lost City of the Sun and Two to Tangle reminded me of how people addicted to smoking need to have that cigarette at 2 p.m. in order to avoid DTs. So, do you think magic is to Mozenrath the way cigarettes are to a chronic smoker? Or, perhaps it's the gauntlet itself. I mean, we know that wretched thing has some pretty nasty side effects. Thoughts? ~Hikaru
Oh, I still think he'd be power hungry with or without the gauntlet. I just think one of the side effects of the gauntlet is an addiction. It's happened before with magic items, and it will likely happen again.
Oh, I agree.
The one time I wrote about the guantlet I wrote it with a lot of similarities to the One Ring.

And with that in mind, do you think the gauntlet effected Aladdin in any way? Or, do you suppose his spirit magic was enough to fight that off?
I don't know if he'd be able to fight it off forever, but I think because of that he'd be able to fight it longer than most people. Plus, he didn't wear it for long and didn't use it much when he did.

It definitely reminds me of an addiction. Although I'm not one of those people who thinks he'd literally die if he wasn't able to wear it (for the same reason I hate abused!Moze; it takes away all his personal responsibility). He might have some kind of withdrawal symptoms depending on how the guantlet works, though...

It's his gateway drugs to power
I think his body from what he told in Two to Tangle has kinda become dependent on it because of the power it has, so taking it away from him isn't good. He kinda needs it, but at the same time it's draining him, so I guess you could say it's like how people act with drugs.
