This is hard! Maleficent is the scarier of the two but Ursula has a great villain's song!
The song was the deciding factor when I voted. I have to wonder about Ursula's past. It was said that she lived in the palace, but that was about it. I wonder what her status was. And BTW, as far as I'm concerned, she never had a sister. (Like some other people on this board, I, too, don't like LM2.) ~Hikaru
Ursula was an advisor of Triton's palace, just like Jafar, except she got banished earlier.....
Although, Ursula was pretty fierce too. That "body language" shimmy was burned in my brain at a young age and it still scares me
I enjoy the Japanese "Body Language". I don't know which version it's from, but it was pretty intense. As is Emily Skinner's version of it on the Little Mermaid Broadway Demo.
I voted for Maleficent. Ursula's certainly in my top 5, but Maleficent has always been my favorite Disney villain. She's made of awesome, you know.

Not to mention that he varies a lot depending on which studio is doing the animation.
It's a pity the Australians didn't animate any of his episodes. I think their work is always livelier and more expressive than anyone else's. Their Mechanikles was just gorgeous.

Mozenrath is a pretty entertaining villain, but he's definitely filed under my book as Not That Attractive. He acts too much like an impulsive, undisciplined child. Also, he can't be
that
intelligent if it takes him until near the end of an episode to figure out something that was blatantly obvious to me after after a few minutes. (EG, the Hand of Shumash. I'd figured that out long before we were treated to Aladdin's aerial POV.)
Ditto. I started as a fangirl when the series first aired. Now, I've matured and he now seems like a whiny brat. And that makes him an even better foil to Aladdin.

*sigh* It seems that I "discovered" Mozenrath when most of the fangirls already had moved on
Still, he's my favourite cartoon guy after Kuzco :p

My vote is on Maleficent, she's got class!
And Lord Mozenrath, it's nice to see another Mozenrath fan here
He hasn't been here for a while. ^^; It feels so weird to me that there aren't that many active Mozenrath fans anymore; there were at least two times in the history of the fandom when the only active Aladdin communities were Mozenrath forums...

Gah... all this time and I'm still undecided...
Maybe I'll go with Maleficent... she's the more Vincent Price-like figure of the pair.
*Votes*
Okay, that's over with.

I picked Maleficent hands down. I just love the way she talks!
Then again everytime I think of Maleficent I think of Morticia (from the Addam's Family) and yeah big fan of those two but Ursala's song pwns! Oh, and Maleficent's weird sense of humor...I mean come on! She decides to kill a newborn baby just cause she wasn't invited to her b-day!? And the taunting of the Prince!
Awesome!

I've just heard people refer to that form as if it's like Superman to her Clark Kent, or something like that. (Maybe that's the other way around.)

I have no experience with TLM fandom at all; what do people say about her "Vanessa form"?

I hate when characters I like are portrayed incorrectly. Especially when the poor portrayal is yet another way for companies to make money.
On a side note, and not many people have done this, but I hate when people talk about Ursula's "Vanessa form" as though it's an alterego of hers. It isn't. She only created Vanessa to manipulate Eric and keep him from falling in love with Ariel. She can take on any form, not just "Vanessa."
I have a nickname for Maleficent, but I think it degrades her character, so you'll have to find a shortened version yourself. I already think "Mozy" and "Jaffy" degrade the characters. Sorry.
Not sure if I knew what Maleficent meant or not, but it doesn't surprise me. I wonder if Ursula has a special meaning. I think I'll find a place to look it up.

I am so totally torn on this one. Before I saw Aladdin, LM was my favorite Disney movie, so I've liked Ursula longer, but I like Maleficent too. I think I like Ursula more now because she seems more underrated. I like the characters that Disney is NOT plastering all over the place, and judging by the amount of Maleficent stuff I've seen in parks Maleficent is a popular villain. I just have two problems with Maleficent: this newfound "trendiness" she's achieved [well, she is the closest thing to a trendy Disney villain, you can find Maleficent stuff so easily] and something I got really fed up with after being on this forum for a while. The whole Maleficent-and-Jafar thing drives me nuts. Not because I want Jafar for myself [okay, I do] but because it's just weird and idiotic to throw them together. But I'm off topic. Those two problems with Maleficent are not really with Maleficent herself but with what people think of Maleficent. I'd say I like Maleficent and Ursula equally. I have more Maleficent stuff but that's because there IS more Maleficent stuff. [Can someone think of a nickname for Maleficent so I don't have to keep writing out her name!] By the way, I was looking through a dictionary once and came upon this:
Maleficent, adj. Doing evil or harm; harmfully malicious.
There you have it. She has the most perfect name of any Disney character.
