Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Cassim and I walked through the tunnels and passages of the cave.

We heard voices and saw light up ahead around the next turn.

We got closer and moved so we were up against the wall. We weren't very far from the turn.

Cassim silently inched his way to the turn and carefully looked around it.

I stood behind him and listened to the voices.

"Will you agree that your family is dead?" came a gruff male voice.

"No." came a female voice.

I guessed the woman to be an older woman.

"My husband isandmy son are not dead. Part of me would have died with them."

"Your family is dead."

"If Hassan and Cassim were dead I'd sense it!"

I nearly gasped.

Cassim moved away from the turn and looked at me.

His face was white.

"Adriana, this is your *last* chance!"

Cassim and I stood still for a moment.

"I *will* be avenged if you kill me, Asward."

"I highly doupt it."

Cassim drew his sword and leaped around the turn!

"Don't you *dare* hurt her!"

I jumped out next to him.

Asward whirled around.

"A man with a sword and a tiger. Interesting."

Cassim said nothing, but I could sense his anger.

"Who are you?"

"Cassim Ben-Hassan Al-Ababwa."

"Cassim?"

Adriana was about sixty-six.

"Talk later!"

I then realized that Cassim and Asward were fighting!

I ran over to Adriana and tried to figure out how to free her.

Then I got an idea. I used one of my claws to unlock her chains!

Adriana looked at me.

I quickly knelt for her to climb on my back.

She heasitated the carefully got on my back. She gripped my fur.

I carefully ran out of the room and out of the cave.

About ten minutes later Cassim came out.

Adriana got off by back and ran towards him.

"Cassim!"

"Mom."

I smiled at the joyful reunion.

After they broke apart and came over to me Cassim spoke.

"Good idea to use your claw as a key, Rajah."

"It was a last-minute thing."

Adriana screamed so loud even Cassim winced!

"Ow. A little loud much, Mom."

"The tiger can talk?"

Cassim quickly explained how I could talk.

Chapter 2: Chapter 2

On way back Adriana rode double with Cassim on Sabeek.

"So what have you been up to all these years."

Cassim reluctantly told her the truth about his past as the King of Thieves.

We could both tell she was disappointed.

"Mom, please say something." Cassim said, nearly begging.

"I'm disappointed, Cassim."

Cassim lowered his head then lifted it again.

I knew he had an idea.

He suddenly started to sing!

(song begins)

Proud of your boy
I'll make you proud of your boy
Believe me, bad as I've been, Ma
You're in for a pleasant surprise

I've wasted time
I've wasted me
So say I'm slow for my age
A late bloomer, okay, I agree

That I've been one rotten kid
Some son, some pride and some joy
But I'll get over these lousin' up
Messin' up, screwin' up times

You'll se, Ma, now comes the better part
Someone's gonna make good
Cross his stupid heart
Make good and finally make you
Proud of your boy

Tell me that I've been a louse and a loafer
You won't get a fight here, no ma'am
Say I'm a goldbrick, a goof-off, no good
But that couldn't be all that I am

Water flows under the bridge
Let it pass, let it go
There's no good reason that you should believe me
Not yet, I know, but

Someday and soon
I'll make you proud of your boy
Though I can't make myself taller
Or smarter or handsome or wise

I'll do my best, what else can I do?
Since I wasn't born perfect like Dad or you
Mom, I will try to
Try hard to make you
Proud of your boy

(song ends)

"Cassim, your father and I aren't perfect."

I saw Cassim wince slightly.

"About Dad."

"What is it?"

"Well,... you see... he..."

"He what?"

Cassim paused and sighed.

"Mom, he was killed in an ambush out in the desert."

Adriana gasped in horror and shock.

"When?"

"Thirty years ago when I was twelve."

Back at the layer Adriana mourned the death of her husband, Hassan. She wept for hours.

Only Cassim was able to comfort her some.

Chapter 3: Chapter 3

Author's Notes: Not finished.

That evening Iago and I quietly looked into Adriana's room.

She was sitting on her bed with Cassim.

Only then did we realize just how small Adriana really was.

She stood at only five feet eleven inches.

She looked so frail amd weak!

Cassim, at that moment, also looked weak! He looked weak and helpless!

"Why did God have to take your father so soon?"

Adriana's voice was hoarse from crying so much.

"It was just time for Dad to go home, I guess." Cassim answered, his own voice hoarse.

Iago and I suddenly realized that he was glaring at us!

We backed up and closed the door quietly.

"He's in a better place now. He's no longer in any pain."

Chapter 4: A Life to be Lost

Weeks later, Cassim went out for a ride. By nightfall he still hadn't returned!

Adriana went outside to wait for him.

A while later she suddenly came into the manin room with Cassim.

Oh! What a sight he was!

His face was pale, blood ran down the side of his face from his forehead, his nose and mouth were bleeding, his clothes were stained with blood, and he could hardly walk!

Despite her small size, Adriana was supporting Cassim, helping him along!

"Iago, get Genie! Hurry!" I said.

Iago flew off to get Genie, and I ran over to help Adriana and Cassim.

"What happened?"

"Explosion." Cassim wheezed.

Adriana and I got him in bed and were horrified to see that he was still bleeding! He also began to cough up blood, telling us that his stomach had been injured in the explosion!

Adriana began to cry. I pulled her to me and let her cry in my fur.

When Genie arrived he had us wait outside in the hall.

Hours later he came out, his face grave.

"How is he?"

"He won't live through the night."

We all gasped, and Adriana burst into tears.

"Genie, isn't there *anything* you can do?"

"No there isn't. I'm sorry, but Cassim won't live through the night. He's lost too much blood, his stomach has been injured causing him to cough up even more bood, and he's bleeding internally. There's nothing I can do to save. He only has a few hours or so left."

Chapter 5: Chapter 5

That night we stayed with Cassim. Iago soon fell asleep soon.

Adriana stayed beside Cassim, holding his hand and gently stroking his hair. I could just barely make out what she was whispering.

"Oh, Cassim. Who would do this to you? You're all I have left. Why must I lose you as well?"

I went over and gently nuzzled her. She looked at me with tear filled eyes.

"Who would do this to him, Rajah?"

"Allot of people want him dead. Many have tried before."

"Why must I lose him too?"

"At least he'll be with his wife again. He'll no longer be in any pain. He's going to a better place."

The next morning we saw that Cassim hadn't moved at all.

Iago felt his wrist for a pulse.

"He's gone."

Adriana burst into tears.

She lightly rested her forehead on his, as she must have done when he was a child.

"Why did you have to go now, Cassim? I love you."

She lifted her head, kissed his forehead, and lay her head on his shoulder.

If I had been paying more attention, I would have noticed the color returning to Cassim's face!

"Why did you have to leave me now?"

"I haven't."

We all looked up.

Cassim's eyes were open! He was alive!

"Cassim!"

Adriana gently hugged him.

"I thought I had lost you."

"You're not gonna get rid of me that easily, Mom."

Chapter 6: Chapter 6

Cassim healed slowly but surely. A few months later he was fine!

He came down for breakfast one morning without a sound.

He stopped behind Adriana's chair and got ready to imitate a lion roaring as he done before to scare Adriana!

"Don't even think about it."

"Aww! How'd you know I was there?"

"I heard you take a breath."

"Oh."

Adriana grabbed the color of his shirt, for he hardly wore his cape anymore, pulled him closer, and kissed his cheek.

"Aw, Mom!"

He pulled back, wiping off his cheek.

"Must you always do that?"

"What's wrong with giving you a kiss on the cheek?"

"Mom, come on. I'm a man in my early forites."

"You age doesn't change the fact that you're my son. I can still remeber when I gave you Nevi."

"Huh?"

"A stuffed camel I gave him when he was four. By the way... here."

Adriana reached under the table and pulled out an old stuffed camel.

"I found him in your dresser."

"Mom!"

Iago and I were both laughing so hard it hurt!

Adriana tossed Casim the camel.

"Mommy's little baby!" Iago taunted.

I couldn't resist joining in!

"What a Mamma's boy!"

Cassim ran from the room!

Chapter 7: Chapter 7

Adriana and I followed him. He went out onto the cliff where Aladdin fought Sa'luk.

"Cassim."

"Why do you do things like this to me?"

"Cassim, I didn't mean to embarrass you."

"I only kept this thing because it was all I had left of you. Guess I don't need it now."

Cassim hurled the camel into the sea!

"Cassim!"

I jumped in after it!

When I got into the main room Cassim came storming by. He slammed the door to his room shut.

I went out onto the cliff to see Adriana on her knees, cradling her left arm close, crying!

"Adriana, are you okay? What happened?"

"Cassim got really angry. When I tried to touch him he twisted my arm."

I ran back inside and stopped outside Cassim's room.

Suddenly I heard Adriana scream!

Cassim came out of his room.

"Mom!"

We ran out onto the cliff to see a masked figure carrying Adriana's limp form!

"Hey! Stop!"

It was Mozenrath!

"This means war!"
