To my calculations is true... They are closing Aladdin Muscial Spectacluar at DCA and the Broadway "Aladdin" is going through auditions in New York. lol No fair, California gets the shorter version while New York gets the whole circus even a grander. Mark your calendars people because Aladdin is coming to New York!

Someone from the Aladdin Fan Groups posted a letter to saying that their friends got callbacks for the show.

"Just letting you guys know, auditions for "Aladdin" are well under way. There are already some callbacks for it and some people from my school are going to them. It's actually happening! Hooray!

Excellent news!

Has there been any mention of who's doing the new songs for it? Is it Menken/Rice who did B&B's new songs, or is it Menken/Slater who just did TLM's new songs? Or is it Menken and someone else?

Maybe the Jim Hill article that said it was on track for 2008-2009 season was right! Hopefully we'll hear more soon.

To Be Free will probably be in it. I forget who did the lyrics for that; was it Slater, or did Menken also write the lyrics for that?

"To Be Free" was Menken (I still have a video somewhere of when they were introducing the idea of The Musical Spectacular and Menken said he always wanted to do a song for that piece of music).

Now they've done the TLM songs (the workshop versions sound great!) hopefully Menken will be able to turn his attention to Aladdin.

I'm hoping that they'll add a fair number of songs to both B&B and TLM that have really added to the story, so hopefully Al will get some.

If they use "To Be Free" I wonder if they'll leave it as a Jasmine song or return it to being a Genie song (which I think was the original plan, but it was too much as they had "Friend Like Me" and "Prince Ali" both in the same part of the film). If they do that, I wonder what type of song they'll do for Jasmine.

The thing about Broadway shows is that they eventually go on the road, so you'll get to see it pretty much anywhere. I got to see BatB in my hometown. Smile

Though the more popular they are the harder it is to get tickets. I tried for wicked when it was coming to Orange County. Tickets went on sale last week and before the day was through they were sold out Laughing
