GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!! New recordings!!! *__________* OM HY GODS!!!
(I think I just died for a moment there, I'm fine now...)
The "Call me a princess"-recording session sounds hilarious. And
"Take it Omar!" XD
Is it just me, or does the CDs totally lack Little shop of horrors? (except from "Da Doo") |

Now that I've heard the entire tracks...
CMaP isn't actually *completely* different; the whole version of the song you hear on The Music Behind the Magic is there, but they stuck an earlier take on the beginning of the track (that's what you hear in the preview). The lyrics are a bit different and he skips over a few parts (guess he hadn't written them yet! )
If you've heard MBTM you'll recognize the *beginning* of the Arabian Nights track...
"Dialogue dialogue dialogue! And a joke." |

Just a reminder that the CD Howard Sings Ashman has been released; it's a two-disc set of recordings of lyricist Howard Ashman singing his own songs, including 3 written for Aladdin:
- Arabian Nights (the original lyrics)
- Babkak, Omar, Aladdin, Kassim
- Call Me a Princess
"Babkak" and "Princess" are different recordings than the ones in the box set The Music Behind the Magic. The original (much longer) version of "Arabian Nights" has never been on CD before to my knowledge; it was intentionally left off of MBtM, probably because of fear of offense (it's very tongue-in-cheek).
You can hear short audio clips from the CD here. |
