This is over a year old, so I guess it turned out not to be true.
It seems like there are always rumors that they're going to close the show; just recently it happened again when they closed it down to be refurbished, so I don't really believe those kind of rumors much anymore. But the fact that everyone is upset enough at the thought of losing the show to start rumors about it all the time is probably a good sign. |

It better not be shut down at DCA cause I and others still haven't seen it! However, grain of salt is good. |

Aw man, if they seriously replace it then I'ma be sad. I mean, it debuting in New York is nice but its going to take a while before it tours anywhere else in the US. It'd be more cost efficient for most to wait for its touring but the time... Bahhhhh. |
That was posted in 2006, so that specific rumor turned out not to be true, and more recenly the head of Disney Theatricals said that he hasn't found a good way to do Aladdin on Broadway yet so... yeah. I haven't heard anything credible about the show at DCA being shut down or moved anywhere, yet. |
In that case....
HAPPY DAY! *throws a rainbow* |

Hehe, exactly. Even if a rumor is confirmed as happens at Disney once in a while (ie, Tarzan Rocks at Animal Kingdom IS INDEED being replaced with Finding Nemo: The Musical)...well, then it's not a rumor anymore.
But Parks and Resorts have too many going around to take seriously..."Did you know there's going to be a Matterhorn at WDW?"..."Did you hear there's a Russia pavilion coming soon to Epcot?"..."Did you know Mickey is equipped with his own air conditioning unit?"..."Did you know that there's a big bubble that covers the Disney parks when it rains so no one has to get wet?"...all actual rumors that have been around for years; not one of them has come to fruition. Some of these have a little grain of truth in them (concept art for a Russia pavilion was done, but I think the idea was scrapped before they ever announced plans to build, but some people still think this long-dead project is just days shy of groundbreaking), but...well, let's just say Disney inspires peoples' imagination, all right. I heard some of these for the first time while working in WDW; the stuff people think of makes me laugh. |

You're right, their rumor mill is CRAZY...I don't think this sounds credible, and it doesn't seem like MP thought so, either, but they at least thought it was amusing enough to share or something, so I shared the story, figuring it was bogus and that the Disneyland regulars around here might support the bogus-ness...didn't mean to sound like I believed it, or to incite a panic among people here.
ETA: Um...sorry for the double post...I realized I had a your/you're typo and when I went to fix it, it posted twice and logged me out the second time. |

I'm not believing it until I see some more evidence; the Disney parks have a pretty infamous rumor mill surrounding them so you have to take this kind of thing with a grain of salt. |

Apparently there's a rumor that the Aladdin musical at DCA will be replaced with a Beauty and the Beast musical, but so far it is no more than that as far as I am aware. Just thought I'd share it here for the sake of discussion.
And yes, Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular is still playing at DCA's Hyperion Theater. I hope you get to go! |

From today's Disneyland Park Update at www.mouseplanet.com:
...And, as always, from the Big Fat Rumor department, DCA Entertainment is considering grounding Aladdin at the end of the year, and moving into DCA's Hyperion Theater could be a return of... Beauty and the Beast.
/ quote
Just a rumor ...hoping it's unsubstantiated, which it sounds like it is.
Just...oy, Disneyland's stage version of BatB was better than WDW's is, IMO, but...I'd hope if they were to make the change that there'd be a new, more innovative version of BatB than just a return of the version that ran years and years ago. That theatre is SO nice; a 6-foot foam Chip would seem quite out of place in there, IMO. So...yeah, I don't believe the rumor, but its existance strikes a nerve, I guess.
ETA: I edited this to try and emphasize the fact that this IS A RUMOR...it's pretty clear from the tone of the MP article that they don't think it sounds like it's got facts supporting it, and I certainly don't think so, either. Just shared it for the sake of discussion, not to sound like the voice of doom for the show. They seemed to think it was kind of amusing so they put it in their article...I agreed and shared it here. But I'm reiterating what Calluna said further down the thread...grain of salt. I don't want anyone thinking I started the thread because I thought it was worth more than that.
EDIT, again:
Mods/Admins: I put this in "news" because I didn't know where else a rumor would fall, but I just am feeling stupid about the whole thing now...if you would want to move it (maybe just to 'Aladdin'?) or anything...by all means. I know it says rumor in the thread title, but...I just feel like I made a mistake putting it here. Sorry! |
