To be fair, Scar had the better situation at hand. None of the gorgeous women under his domain knew anything better than "we have a King, so all is good". Besides, those three years lapsed only because the only real threat to his position hadn't developed enough testosterone to get into the whole male deathfighting thing. Simba didn't have a flying carpet, either -- just a meerkat and a flatulent warthog.
