When I was getting ready to audition for American Idol, there's actually a list of stuff you can't sing. It's not long, but I bet it grows every year - not that the judges see you right away or anything. |

I hear parts of it at least once a year on the audition tapes. It's usually never any good |

I think it's just a popular song for people here to sing to try out for Idol... cept they never wind up singing it well at all. |

Australia had a montage like that as well? I'd assumed that so many Americans were singing it because Reuben Studdard (the season 2 winner) sang it and they were all copying him, but maybe not if other countries have the same phenomenon. |

Aww that was beautiful, it sent shivers up my spine (and considering I've got nerve problems in my back, that's impressive )
A shame that Simon buzzed them (I can only assume that if they get buzzed at least twice then they're gone, not having watched the show?), but admittedly I cringe everytime I hear someone's going to sing A Whole New World - we also had a whole montage here in Australian Idol of people singing it so, so badly... |

I'm not surprised Simon buzzed them if only because in season 3 of American Idol in the states, he was sick of hearing that song butchered. They did a whole montage to it |
