Yeah, I know what you mean. Personally, I believe poetry to be harder than prose, so hey, maybe it'll be good. I guess we'll have to see the screenplay before we can really make any judgements. |

I have not heard any of his songs, but writing prose and poetry are pretty different. Not to say that he can't be good at both, but just because you're good at one doesn't mean you're good at the other. |

Well, I do like quite a few of his songs. Some of them are very deep. But the movie script, yeah, will probably suck. I mean, most vampire stories end up as cheap sci-fi channel stuff. |

I totally agree with all of the above, Syera. |

I listened to some of his songs - they were nothing special. Pretty much the same ol' schlock you hear from 90% of all performers.
I'm doubly not expecting much due to the fact that this is a vampire story - a lot of vampire stories seem to have been written with the notion that OMGVAMPIRES!!! is a substitute for good writing and story. (To be fair, it is remarkably effective if you want to gain a large following of teenage females... EG, Twilight.) |

He's goes by Caleb for personal reasons, I believe.
But yes, of course he can write!! I don't doubt that in the least. Caleb Kane has written some beautiful music. I wouldn't be surprsied that he can handle a script. |

Brad/Caleb Kane a scriptwriter?!
I hope his scripts are of a better quality than his lyrics... |

I guess those that voice Aladdin are destined to become writers. Who knew? |

Haven't read the book but what Wikipedia writes it sounds like a promesing horror thriller. Hopefully it gets a back silver screen feature and not a TV or DVD flick. |

Sony Hires Ex-Aladdin for Historian
Source: Ryan Rotten, VarietyJune 15, 2007
Sony is all sharp, toothy grins when it comes to vampires. Bloodsuckers have done well for the studio, whether it was Bram Stoker's Dracula or the recent Underworld series.
A couple of years back Sony acquired the rights for Elizabeth Kostova's vamp novel, The Historian, and now they're finally ready to move on the project.
Finding confidence in the right writer to adapt the material appears to be the reason for its long gestation process. According to Variety, they've found their man.
Brad Caleb Kane - who is best known as the singing voice in Disney's Aladdin franchise but is now a "writer to watch" - is taking the honor to adapt Kostova's story which follows a woman searching for her father who set off to find Vlad the Impaler's grave.

So who knew this guy was a writer? I had no idea. |
